Amsterdam Day 1- All Travelling and No Spice

So this first blog is more a travelling one than anything else. First day was never going to be much in the way of spicy given our flight was at 7am and we had to be up at 3am. Honestly, what sort of ungodly time of day is that to be awake?! I resent having to be up any earlier than 7 if I can avoid it on a normal day. Anyhoo… here’s a quick synopsis of Amsterdam Day 1.

As I said above, we got up at 3am to get to the airport in plenty of time. We’d already checked in online, but had to drop off our bags and get some breakfast. I’d promised my personal trainer that I’d have fun, but that I’d try to stick to my food goals, specifically trying to hit my protein and calorie goals each day. I don’t want to lose the progress I’m making in regards to diet and improving my food aversion, so Kai and I have scheduled in times to make sure I eat properly each day. Not that an airport breakfast is exactly the best in the world, but it did the trick in a pinch, and I sorted out some snacks for the flight too. Thank god I did, because just as we boarded we found out the flight was delayed due to heavy fog over Amsterdam!

Sly comes with me whenever I travel. He’s a good foxy boi

Nether Kai or myself were particularly bothered by this (well, I might have resented the delay a little given I could have been having sex with Daddy that morning if the times were different but it couldn’t be helped) but a lot of the passengers were less than pleased. One particular guy behind us was an unmitigated asshole and spent the entire time loudly grumbling about the incompetence of the cabin crew and pilot, as if they could control the weather. He got so snippy that his wife actually moved up a seat to get away from him and put her headphones on. Kinda wanted to applaud her for that, I won’t lie. After a couple of hours, we were informed that the fog was dissipating, but that there was a hole on the runway that need to be addressed before the queue of aircrafts could leave. The amount of complaints at this point was almost funny, but it was a little frustrating. If any of the Xbiz events had started on the 9th and the delays had made us late, I’d have been angry too. The cabin crew were great though, and at the two hour point started giving out snacks so everyone could simmer down a little. Good thing too, because I’d already demolished my protein bar!

To amuse myself during the delay, I decided to see how many things from my hand luggage I could balance on Kai while he napped. That one ended up on TikTok of course. I also doodled in my journal and continued working through the ridiculous amount of blog drafts I have sitting that need finishing. You can’t say I’m not productive when I have several hours being forced to sit still!

We finally took off at 11am, four hours after we were meant to leave, and arrived in Amsterdam at 1.15 local time. Kai and I did have a bit of a dumb moment while waiting for our luggage. We spent about 15 minutes waiting for our bags to arrive at the wrong luggage belt. I blame myself for that one. I was getting a bit tired and grumpy at this point, so wasn’t really paying attention to the flight number. But we got our bags sorted. A short bus ride and walk later and we were at our hotel.

The hotel was beautiful! Perfect for photos and clips!

I kid you not, this place is one of the prettiest and quirkiest hotels I’ve been in for a long time. The vibe is so queer friendly, and the aesthetic is right up that similar alley. The staff are also utterly wonderful. Think, lots of old, gold framed mirrors, plushie cushions, dark and rich colours on the walls and dark wood. Oh and steep, spirally staircases that (although a pain in the ass to walk up and down when you’re in any shoes with a heel) just look so damn aesthetically pleasing. If I find the time I might ask the owner nicely if it’s ok to take some photos on the stairs in lingerie when it gets a little later and less people will be using them… watch this space. Our room is also stunning! The window is large, with a beautiful old shutter that can be pulled back and forth, so it makes the light just stunning. It’s perfect for photos and videos, so there WILL be some beautiful content coming out of that room. Waste not, want not after all! So if you’re looking for a quirky and affordable hotel in the centre of Amsterdam I would 100% recommend the Max Brown Hotel, Museum Square.

On the point of content creation, I have zero intention of making any below the belt content while I am here. I’ve had a couple of industry friends asking me why, because it is a good opportunity to get a bulk of content with creators from all over the world. Well my reasoning is pretty simple: I’m working on building my business and my brand. I want to start collaborating fully again, but on my terms, with people I’ve built a solid professional relationship with. People I can trust to help me create the style of content that builds my work up, as well as their own. Mutual benefit. When I started sex work and did kink collaboration (with women) out of a dungeon in Glasgow, I put myself in a lot of dangerous situations by being self destructive and flippant with my safety. I don’t want want to do it again. I’ll do it right or not at all. Plus, and this might sound a touch odd coming from someone who works in this industry, but casual sex makes me feel vaguely nauseous. I don’t like it in my personal life and I like it less in my professional one. Sounds even weirder coming from someone who leans heavily on the side of polyamory and open relationships right? This might be too deep for this blogpost and I’ll go into it more another time, but yeah, don’t expect any genitals in or around mine this trip.

Anyhoo, we arrived hot and sweaty because it’s been 30c, humid and not a breath of air. I’m Scottish for fuck sake! This pale bitch isn’t built for this type of heat! So Kai and I got showered (a glorious shower incidentally) covered ourselves in sun cream and headed out to find some dinner and some snack supplies for the hotel room. We found this adorable Italian place that made fresh stone baked pizza and shared a couple of pizzas and a dessert between us. The food was phenomenal! I wasn’t particularly hungry when I sat down, but I really needed a good meal after a day of snacks and little else.

By that point we were wiped. It was getting on for 7pm and we’d been up since 3, so we picked up water, bananas and some fruit juice at the local corner shop and headed back. I did a little blogging work downstairs (this blog actually… I just didn’t finish it because I was knackered) and had a cup of tea. While I was writing, we were receiving updates from our friends River and Raven who were also on their way to the same hotel as us. They arrived shortly after we headed to bed at 9.

So that was Day 1 in Amsterdam. Not much spice or anything overly eventful to report, but I promised I’d write, and so I write! Besides… I find blogging quite soothing. I don’t know if I write particularly eloquently, but enough people like it to keep me doing it. Day 2 promises to have a little more spice involved… plus we’ll be getting our access passes to the conference! It’s going to get real quickly, so stay tuned for more… whenever I get a chance to write, I will!

Love from Amsterdam,

Kitty xx
